Qualification for Entry

  1. Wines are made from grapes and belong to the indicated categories in the face side. Wine added extract from fruit, coffee, etc. is not accepted.
  2. Applicants must be wine producers, distributors, importers or wine dealers.

Criteria for Entry

  1. The annual production of the wine is beyond 1,000 bottles (750㎖).
  2. The bottle size of the wine must be less than 2,000㎖.
  3. The sample must be in glass bottle.
  4. All the information in the form must be completed. The name of the applicant, category of the wine, brand name of the wine, varietal compositions (if several, indicate each percentage), country of the production, suggested retail price, etc. must be legible.

Number of Entry & Bottles

  1. There is no limit number of items for entry.
  2. Required number of samples for each item is 3 bottles (750㎖). (In case of 375㎖, 6 bottles) 
  3. When the same wine is submitted by more than one company, the wines are judged as one item. Please note that the entry fee will not be refunded.

  2. Early Bird Discount
    If the payment is made by credit card by the due date before 24:00(Japan Time) on Oct.31, 2016, 5% discount can be applied to the total amount.
    Ex) 5 items entry 20,000Yen × 5 items = 100,000Yen
         100,000Yen × 5% = 5,000Yen
         (100,000Yen ‒ 5,000Yen )+ 8% tax(7,600Yen) =102,600Yen
  3. The payment method
    In the case of online entry, the entry fee can be paid by credit cards or bank transfer. In the case of manual entry, the entry fee can be paid by bank transfer only. Applicants must bear all the bank charge for the remittance.
  4. The total fee and the bank details will be sent to you online or by e-mail.
  5. Please note that the entry fee is non-refundable.
  6. The deadline for payment is indicated in your MY PAGE or in the e-mail from“ SAKURA” Wine Awards Office.
  7. When it is impossible to hold and operate the tasting assessment due to the natural disasters such as earthquakes, etc., the entry fee is not refunded.

Period of Entry

The entry period is from Oct. 1, 2017 to Nov. 30, 2017

Deadline of the Sample

  1. Please ship the samples in time for arrival in Tokyo by Jan. 12, 2018.
  2. Attach the outer carton label visibly on the box.
  3. Write the registration number of the wine clearly in the outer carton label.
  4. Write“ Sample No Commercial Value” in the invoice.
  5. Please avoid the delivery by EMS or post office as it takes long time for clearing customs.
  6. All the cost for shipping including insurance, customs clearance, duty & tax must be borne by the applicant.
  7. “SAKURA” Wine Awards Office is not responsible for any damage of the samples during the delivery.
  8. If samples arrive after the deadline, they may not be included in the competition. Samples which are not in time for the competition will not be returned. Also, there will be no refund of the entry fee.

Judgement

  1. The Juries will be divided into small groups of 5 to 6 people.
    The wines will be judged by blind tasting.
  2. The full score is 100 point. The wines marked from 93 to 100 points are awarded Double Gold, from 88 to 92 points are Gold and from 83 to 87 points are Silver.
  3. Diamond Trophy wines will be selected from Double Gold wines.
  4. Special awards will be selected from Double Gold, Gold and Silver wines.

Award Announcement

  1. February 14, 2017: Double Gold, Gold and Silver Awards will be announced on the website.
  2. March 7, 2017: Diamond Trophy and Special Awards Grand Prix will be announced at the Ceremony at FOODEX JAPAN 2018.

Diploma

  1. The diploma will be sent to all winners.
  2. Trophies will be conferred to the winners of Diamond Trophy and Special Awards Grand Prix.

Medal Logo

  1. Award winners are privileged to receive the digital Medal logo free of charge in case the agreement on the condition for use is submitted in advance.
  2. The Medal logo is to be used only for the awarded wines with the relevant vintage.
  3. Purchase of the printed medal stickers is available.

Confidentiality

  1. The list and information of entry wines are kept confidential.
  2. Samples are non-returnable.

Miscellaneous

Should an ambiguit yor problem arises, the matter will be investigated by“ SAKURA” Wine Awards Office.
The information that we collect and store relating to the entry is used to enable us to provide our information, inquiries and services to the appliants.
